Our 2026 Blooming Season Offer
All stays in May and June 2026 receive a 20% discount on the cabin rental fee
There is a brief, precious stretch of the year when Styria looks exactly the way you imagine it on a long day at the office, staring out the window. The meadows surrounding our cabins near Ratten are knee-deep in wildflowers. The evenings are long enough to take a walk through the forest after dinner. And in the June nights – when the warmth finally settles in for good – the fireflies come out to dance.
These very weeks, the most beautiful of the year up on our alm, still have open dates. And we want you to be here for them.
Our Blütezeit offer for 2026: All stays in May and June 2026 receive 20% off the cabin rental – provided you book by May 31, 2026.
Spring in March and April is about awakening. May and June are about full bloom – and that difference hits you the moment you step out of the car.
The meadows above Ratten are a botanical wonder during these weeks: wild garlic, ox-eye daisies, buttercups, forget-me-nots – a palette no filter could improve. The forests smell of warm resin and damp moss. The streams, still fed by snowmelt from the higher elevations, rush louder than they do in summer.
And then there are the long evenings. In May and June, darkness doesn’t fall in Styria until around 9 pm. That’s three or four extra hours of daylight compared to winter – three or four more hours for hiking, campfires, evenings on the terrace, and simply: breathing.
Those who already know our cabin will know where its name comes from. For those who don’t: in June, when the temperatures are right and the meadows hold enough moisture, the grounds around the Glühwürmchenhütte transform into a quiet light show.
Hundreds of tiny lights drifting slowly and silently through the grass. No electric light to interfere. No traffic noise. Just the crackling of the campfire – and these little sparks that make the Austrian mountain summer so unlike anything else.
You can’t really photograph it. You have to have been there.
20% off the cabin rental for all stays in May and June 2026. Booking deadline: May 31, 2026
The offer applies to:
The Glühwürmchenhütte – our spacious chalet for families, groups of friends, and anyone who needs room, nature, and a fully equipped kitchen. Complete with terrace, fire pit area, private pond, and direct access to hiking trails.
The Romantikhütte – the private retreat for couples. With the legendary open-air hot tub, breathtaking panoramic views, and the kind of stillness you don’t need to pay for in Styria – it’s simply there.
Both cabins together – ideal for family reunions, birthday weekends, or groups who want the entire alm to themselves.
May and June in the Feistritz Valley offer a programme you couldn’t make up – it simply exists:
Hiking before the crowds arrive
Before high summer, the trails around Ratten are practically yours. The Mondweg Ratten, the Hauereck alpine area, the ridgeline paths through the Joglland – in May and June the visibility is clear, the air is cool, and the chances of meeting another hiker are refreshingly low.
Cycling through a landscape in bloom
The forest roads and cycling routes in the Feistritz Valley are at their best in early summer. Bring an e-bike and you can reach the higher elevations – rewarded with a panorama that stays with you.
Cooking with whatever the region has right now
Wild garlic still grows in the forests. Forellenzucht Kroisleitner is in season. And Fleischerei Sommersguter has everything a proper mountain barbecue requires. The kitchen in the Glühwürmchenhütte is fully equipped – just pick up the ingredients fresh.
Doing nothing in particular
Sometimes the whole point of a trip is the absence of a plan. A hammock, a book, the sound of the stream, a coffee that doesn’t go cold because you have nowhere to be – this is not a wellness brochure, it’s a real day on our alm.
How do I get the discount?
Simply enquire through our online booking form. We confirm the Blütezeit discount directly in our reply – no code, no small print.
What is the booking deadline?
The deadline is May 31, 2026. Your actual stay can take place any time in May or June – the only requirement is that the booking request arrives before that date.
Does the offer apply to short stays as well?
Yes, shorter stays are included too – subject to availability. Last minute also means: the more flexible you are, the better the gaps you’ll find in the calendar.
Can I book both cabins at the same time?
Yes. For larger groups, we offer the option of renting the Glühwürmchenhütte and the Romantikhütte together. Find out more here.
Don’t wait too long – May and June go quickly
Anyone who has ever missed an open date during the Blütezeit knows: these weeks are short. And they come only once a year.
So if you’ve been picturing yourself waking up in the Styrian mountains while everything outside is in bloom – with the scent of meadows drifting through an open window and the knowledge that the evening stretches ahead of you – this is your sign.
Warm greetings from the Styrian mountains,
Jeanette & Lukasz Baranowski
